First Fruits will operate as a “Green Facility” where sustainability is at the forefront of all we do. First Fruits started by “recycling” an abandoned ex-beverage facility and has turned it into a world class contract packing facility. Energy efficient boilers, lighting, HVAC systems, etc. has been added during the renovation process, and everything possible that was disposed of during this process was recycled. First Fruits has enacted a comprehensive recycling and energy conservation program, and has begun the process toward becoming a LEED EB certified facility. We will also boast the lowest carbon footprint of any hot fill facility in the country because of the addition of an innovative, first of its kind, Hybrid Heating System, which will recapture heat from our cooling tunnel that is typically lost. This scavenged heat will reduce our boiler needs by nearly 70%, thus greatly lowering our carbon emissions.
